This week, our Fire Prevention Officers had the pleasure of presenting a Fire Safety Class to the Christian Camp Meeting Association at the historic Craigville Tabernacle in Centerville. The evening’s theme:
“Preventing Fires is Sustainable and Good for the Environment.”
FPO’s explored the environmental impact of fires, compared wildland vs. urban fires, and discussed how legacy vs. modern construction plays a role in fire behavior.
Topics included:
- Smoke & CO alarms
- Appliance & heating safety
- Kitchen fires
- Electrical safety
- Solar panels
- Open burning & cook fires
- Grill safety
- Outdoor propane features like heaters
Craigville Village is nestled near Craigville Beach and dates back to the 1800s. The Craigville Tabernacle where the presentation took place, has stood since 1872, making it a fitting venue to discuss the importance of preserving life, property, and our environment through fire prevention.
Thank you to the Christian Camp Meeting Association for inviting us and for your commitment to safety and sustainability!
